About Me

Pumping music DJs

I help to organise the school formal each year as a year 10 coordinator, so I know how much difference a great DJ can make to getting everyone dancing and to make the party really pump. I'm a funky kind of teacher, but I can't really keep up with the latest music, so I need to head online to make sure I choose a great DJ who has recent reviews from cool cats and funky kittens. This site has some of my research on choosing fun and professional DJs for school formals, so that other formal coordinators can have an easier time of it!

Three Things You Need To Know Before You Use Instrument Rental

by Milan Gaillard

Instrument rental is one of the best ways to get your hands on your favourite musical instrument. From guitars to double basses, there are so many instruments available that you would never have the time to go through and buy every single one. This is where instrument rental comes in handy. It allows you to use the instrument for as long as you like for a fraction of the cost of buying it outright. But before you use this great service, there are a few things you should know so that you don't make a costly mistake later on.

You Can Often Buy Your Instrument At The End

The number one question most people have about instrument rental is what happens when it's over. The short answer is that most people return their instruments to the place they rented it from. However, if you realise that you have grown quite fond of this instrument, you can always buy your instrument outright. Depending on how long you have been with the rental company, you may also get a significant discount. That means your money doesn't go to waste, even when you are just renting your instrument before you make the choice to buy.

You Have To Rent On A Contract

What this means is that you cannot simply hire out an instrument for the afternoon or the weekend. Many instrument rental places offer contracts between three and six months. Some may offer lower terms than this, but it is important to realise that you will likely have this instrument for quite some time, so make sure you are getting something you like. Pre-owned instruments can often be rented out for shorter lengths of time, but the rental period will still likely be at least a month. Make sure you have enough room in your home or apartment to store the instrument if need be.

Repairs

If the instrument breaks due to normal wear and tear (such as the strings or bows) then the instrument rental place will often fix it for you at no cost. However, this does not give you free rein to be rougher with your instrument. It is very important that you are careful with your instrument, as people forget that often these cost thousands of dollars. A dent or a scratch can also alter the sound coming from your instrument, making it doubly important that you be careful. If your instrument is damaged due to a problem you created, then you will probably be asked to repair it on your own dime or buy it.
